The art of the tease: Eversolo’s T8 streaming transport & Z10 DAC

  • Many new products debuting at this weekend’s Munich High-End hi-fi show won’t be retail-ready until later this year. Despite their presence on the show floor, the finishing touches have yet to be added and crucially for any would-be buyer, the street price decided upon.

One example is Eversolo’s T8 streaming transport, which it calls a ‘Pure Transport’, that takes the Chinese company’s touchscreen-and-app streaming formula, removes the internal DAC to offer “isolated” digital outputs: SFP optical module, USB-B, I2S (HDMI), coaxial, TOSLINK and AES/EBU. My Eversolo contact tells me the T8 features “an ultra-precision Femtosecond-grade master clock” and delivers bit-perfect digital signals to external DACs.

And one such external DAC might be Eversolo’s new flagship unit, the Z10.

From Eversolo’s press materials: “[The Z10] integrates industry-leading technologies – top-tier chip architecture, professional-grade power supply, signal isolation mechanisms, and versatile connectivity – delivering unprecedented sonic purity.”

We are also told the Z10 houses:

“● Triple bespoke toroidal transformers establish dedicated power pathways, minimizing cross-interference and electromagnetic noise.
    ● An oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) paired with femtosecond-grade PLL system crafts ultra-stable, low-jitter clock architecture.
    ● Dual-mono AKM flagship DAC configuration achieves ultimate channel separation for detailed performance and dynamic response.
    ● Qualcomm QCC5125 chip enables near-wired fidelity over wireless transmission.
    ● IIS input supports PCM 32Bit/768kHz and DSD512 Native decoding.”

However, the T8 and Z10 aren’t shipping until Q4 of this year — and a lot can happen in six months. Some features could get nixed and others could be added. And because we won’t know pricing until launch, the T8 and Z10’s Munich showing won’t be anything but a tease.

UPDATE: the SFP optical module is no longer part of the T8’s feature set.
