JBL adds three new models to its Summit Series

  • From the floor of Munich High-End 2025, JBL has added three new high-end loudspeaker models to its Summit Series. The two floorstanders and standmount are named after some of the world’s most well-known peaks to sit next to the existing Everest and K2. Let’s break it down…

As a large three-way floorstander, the Makalu (see above) is the flagship of the new models. It sees a 12″ bass driver and an 8″ midranger – both utilising JBL’s proprietary HC4 composite cones – work in tandem with a D2 compression driver and its moulded HDI™ Sonoglass® horn. These drivers are mounted to a contoured cabinet that will come in two finishes: rich ebony veneer with gold accents or high-gloss black with platinum detailing.

The Pumori is a smaller three-way floorstander. It houses a 10″ bass driver, an 8″ midranger and a D2 compression driver + HDI™ Sonoglass® horn. Like its bigger brother, Pumori features a contoured cabinet that also comes in a choice of rich ebony and high-gloss black finishes.

Lastly, there’s Ama — a standmount. Here we see an 8″ HC4 driver working midrange and bass duties that, once again, is married to JBL’s D2 compression driver and HDI™ horn. The Ama sits on a matching steel/aluminium stand.

According to the press materials, the three new models feature JBL’s proprietary MultiCap™ crossover network, IsoAcoustics™ isolation feet and are “crafted with meticulous attention to detail”. Internal bracing is reportedly heavy.

Shipping on the three new models takes place later this year with the following pricing:

JBL Summit Ama (including stands): US$19,995, €17,490 or £19,998
    JBL Summit Pumori: US$29,995, €30,998 or £26,998
    JBL Summit Makalu: US$44,995, €43,998 or £36,998
