The hottest hi-fi product of 2023? That was Eversolo’s DMP-A6: a streaming DAC (with hard-wired digital inputs) that married a landscape-oriented touchscreen to a whitelist of installable apps for bit-perfect playback of Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and Qobuz plus Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready.
This week brings news of a second-generation model.
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 holds the line with the original’s balanced 2 x ESS 9038Q2M digital decoding, M.2 NVMe drive bay, external CD ripping, 6″ touchscreen and cast app functionality but swaps out the switch-mode power supply for a linear variant.
From the press release: “The Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 features an ultra-low-noise audio linear power supply. Its fully optimized power system reduces noise levels to below 40uV, providing a purer and more stable power source for the audio circuit, significantly enhancing overall sound quality.”
The Chinese manufacturer also tells us that the 2nd Gen touchscreen’s colour accuracy has been improved, WakeOnLAN and TriggetOut functionality added and an HDMI ARC input fitted to the back panel.
Eversolo has clearly been listening to user feedback.
A Master Edition of the DMP-A6 Gen 2 is also waiting in the wings. It will land in a silver chassis and per the Gen 1 Master Edition, it will only be available via Eversolo’s brick-and-mortar dealer network.
