This might be an unusual point to make but…
For a hi-fi or head-fi product to qualify for ‘Product of the Year’ or ‘Best of 2024’ at Darko.Audio, I must have spent several weeks with it. That immediately disqualifies products seen and heard at hi-fi shows. How do I communicate this non-verbally to the Darko.Audience. You will only see manufacturer-supplied photos in this site’s news announcements or the occasional op-ed. All other coverage – the ‘In Berlin’ or ‘In Lisbon’ previews and written reviews – run with self-shot photos.
But proof of residency is best communicated by a review video’s b-roll, after which there should be no doubt that I have had the product at home and in my life and that my opinions have formed after living with it for at least a month.
