T+A updates its high-end SACD/CD player’s streaming smarts

  • New from T+A — well, kind of — is the MP 3100 HV G3. The ‘MP 3100 HV’ speaks to an existing high-end CD/SACD player and DAC (w/ USB, 2 x TOSLINK, 2 x BNC, coaxial, AES/EBU) but the ‘G3’ indicates the inclusion of the German company’s third-generation streaming client which it calls “Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) G3”.

For end users, ASA G3 means the MP 3100 HV G3 features a new motherboard that supports Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2. The upgrade also adds a DAB+/FM tuner and, when a CD is inserted into the unit’s tray mechanism, a Gracenote metadata look-up for the front panel vacuum fluorescent display and cover art for T+A’s Music Navigator G3 smartphone app.

    Not only.

The new motherboard facilitates “significantly improved signal processing” and “unique True1-Bit DSD and Quadruple PCM digital-to-analogue converters for even better sound quality”. Those quotes come from the press release.

This high-end SACD, CD, DAC and network player is handmade in Germany and sells for £15,650 or US$23,000. Your choice of Silver or Titanium finishes. An upgrade program for existing MP 3100 HV units begins in January 2025.
