After 2022’s reworked 700 and 770 comes a new, smaller standmount from Mission: unlike its predecessors, the incoming 750 is not a reimagining of a loudspeaker model from years gone by but an all-new design where the tweeter sits below the mid/bass driver. Mission calls this driver topology “Inverted Driver Geometry” and claims it can deliver superior time alignment and imaging.
The 13.5cm mid/bass driver in the 750 is made from mineral-loaded polypropylene and has reportedly been made to the same design standard as the larger drivers created for the reworked 770 and 700. This includes a specially designed motor system, a rigid die-cast chassis and a low-density nitrile surround. Working in tandem with a bass reflex port that, according to Mission, has been tuned to a “very low frequency”, the 750 promise an in-room response of 42Hz.
The 750’s tweeter is a 2.8cm microfibre dome whose damped rear chamber pushes the fundamental resonance below the crossover region whose design was finalised by ear (and not by measurements). From the press release: the crossover network in the 750 uses “very short signal paths and accommodates high-quality components such as super-transparent polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors.”
The 750’s drivers and crossover are housed in a real-wood veneered, internally-braced cabinet made from a twin-wall sandwich of high-density MDF and particle board bonded by a layer of vibration-damping glue.
The Mission 750 will sell for £899/pair – your choice of Black Wood or Walnut veneer – with dedicated stands available for £129/pair.
