Cambridge announces EVO 150 DeLorean Edition, adds VU meters

  • Cambridge Audio will soon issue a firmware update for its EVO 150 and EVO 75 streaming amplifiers that puts VU meters on the 7″ display, giving users an alternative to seeing cover art and track information. The catch? We won’t see this firmware update until May.

    But…

…if you’ve yet to pull the trigger on an EVO series amplifier, Cambridge Audio is also announcing today the EVO 150 DeLorean Edition which comes pre-installed with the VU meter-enabled firmware. The DeLorean Edition is functionally identical to the standard EVO 150 but has a bare metal finish that extends to the side panels, top plate and volume control.

From the press release: “Evo 150 DeLorean Edition goes the extra mile, stripping down to bare metal with meticulously crafted, brushed bodywork and sumptuous silver detailing that pays homage to the iconic DeLorean DMC-12.”

The DeLorean Edition EVO 150 will sell for US$3199 when it goes on sale today in North America. Those living in Asia and Europe must wait until April, the latter paying £2099 or €2499.

Also worth noting is Susumu Yokota’s Acid Mt. Fuji in the promotional photos. Double thumbs up for that.
