The Future-Fi family gains another member this week with the imminent arrival of a new streaming loudspeaker from SVS. The Prime Wireless Pro made its debut at CES 2022 in January, stepped out again in April for AXPONA 2022 and then again last month for Munich High-End 2022.
Inside each cabinet sits a 5.25″ mid-bass driver and 1″ aluminium dome tweeter, each juiced by 50 Watts of internal Class D amplification. The right-hand loudspeaker houses the electronics and connectivity with amplifier power handed off to the (passive) left-hand loudspeaker via a 4-pole umbilical.
A 24bit/192kHz-capable D/A converter and an active DSP crossover lay down the drawbridge to three hard-wired inputs – HDMI eARC, TOSLINK or RCA analogue – and a host of network streaming options – Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and DTS Play-Fi. (Roon users can stream over AirPlay or Google Cast).
Control options go beyond smartphone apps to include an IR remote wand and – making the Prime Wireless Pro family-friendly – a set of 6 preset buttons, located on the front panel of the left-hand loudspeaker, that can be assigned to favourite playlists, albums or Internet radio stations. Alexa and GoogleVoice assistant compatibility is also part of the deal.
The SVS Prime Wireless Pro come in a choice of piano gloss black or piano gloss white. Pricing says hello at US$799/pair. Shipping begins ‘Summer 2022’ (or ‘Winter 2022’ if you live south of the equator).
