Dynaudio reworks Emit loudspeaker range

  • Revamped, revised and reshaped, a new range of Emit loudspeakers from Dynaudio is upon us: two standmounts (Emit 10 and Emit 20), two floorstanders (Emit 30 and Emit 50) and, for home theatre enthusiasts, a center-channel (Emit 25C). All models are passive designs (BYO amplification) and feature driver technology trickled down from the Danish company’s Evoke series. The Cerotar tweeter features a ‘custom AirFlow magnet’ made from strontium carbonate ferrite+ ceramic and is backed by a 28mm aluminium voice coil.

The press release takes us deeper on tweeter tech info: “Advanced airflow optimisation in the rear chamber is designed to reduce unwanted resonances behind the coated fabric soft-dome diaphragm. Meanwhile, the ingenious Hexis inner dome controls airflow, smoothing the frequency response for even cleaner, sweeter high-frequencies.”

Emit’s mid/bass and bass drivers are fashioned from Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP), a material developed by Dynaudio to deliver just the right combination of lightness, stiffness and damping.

Back to the press release for more:

“They’re bonded directly to the copper-clad aluminium voice-coil assembly for even more control over their movement. Dual-stacked ferrite-ceramic magnet systems provide the power. Using more magnets has given Dynaudio’s engineers greater control over the driver’s movement and excursion for more sonic precision. This improves dynamics at lower frequencies while maintaining stellar midrange performance.”

Stitching the drivers together is the all-important crossover network. Dynaudio has given each new Emit model a bespoke implementation that puts first-, second- and fourth-order filters in play across the entire range.

Rounding out Emit 2021’s list of design features are new dual-flared bass-reflex ports that sit on the rear of 18mm-thick MDF cabinets – your choice of black, white or walnut finishes – which in turn house new internal damping material “measured down to the gram for the right combination of damping and openness”.
