Arcam’s ST60 puts Roon, Spotify & Chromecast in one streaming box

  • Hard to believe that the ST60 is Arcam’s very first dedicated network streamer but the specifications sheet doesn’t support. Out of the box, we get support for Apple AirPlay 2 plus this listener’s Holy Trinity of streaming: Google Chromecast Built-in, Spotify Connect and Roon Ready*. Arcam’s MusicLife smartphone app adds UPnP, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Napster capabilities.

On the back panel, we spy single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs plus Wifi aerial sockets and an Ethernet port. In between, an ESS 9038K2M DAC chip handles the decoding of PCM up to 32bit/192kHz – plus full MQA rendering and decoding – but the press release makes no mention of DSD.

Arcam has also made the ST60’s internal DAC accessible to external coaxial and TOSLINK feeds whilst coaxial and TOSLINK digital outputs (one of each) allows the ST60 to talk to external D/A converters.

Lastly, the ST60 offers full I/P and RS232 control for integration in both Control4 and Crestron home automation systems.

    Price: £1199. Shipping Q4 2020.
