The Bluesound Powernode 2i (€899) is a streaming amplifier in which a BluOS streaming module fronts a 60wpc ‘HybridDigital’ amplifier that uses PWM to blurs the line between DAC and loudspeaker driver. Touch panel excepted, playback control is software-based. Smartphone and desktop apps from BluOS, Roon and Spotify. Broadening this unit’s connection possibilities are a 3.5mm headphone socket plus 3.5mm analogue inputs (that double as mini-TOSLINK) and HDMI.
The Powernode 2i is a friendly solution for newcomers to the hi-fi world or a neat diversion for would-be minimalists. Whatever your domestic or financial disposition, this Bluesound unit is Grade A FutureFi.
