Podcast: Vinnie Rossi on the difference between power and gain

  • Turn the volume wheel and the sound gets louder– it’s what we expect. But what if one amplifier gets louder sooner on the dial than another? Is it more powerful? Or does it just have more gain? Impossible to know for sure without looking at the circuit design, according to amplifier designer Vinnie Rossi, who took issue with the overly-generalised language used by yours truly in my dCS Bartók review video.

    Time to talk it out. No privately – so only I would learn something – but publicly so that all Darko.Audio podcast listeners might benefit.
