The last time Jeff Dorgay and I sat down for a chat over Internet wires, Munich High-End 2019 had just wrapped and I wanted to talk about lifestyle products. At the end of that podcast, I’d gone out on a limb with a Munich-sourced rumour: that Amazon Music would soon launch a lossless/hi-res streaming tier.
This week, Amazon Music made good on that rumour, launching an HD service that offers a CD-quality streaming service with up to ten percent of its 50 million song library available also as hi-res streams. A good time then to get Dorgay back behind a microphone for us to discuss this fresh development; one that threatens to rock the boat carrying those who care about data rates.
