“I gotta drive this year!” — that’s Massachusetts man Vinnie Rossi passing off-the-record comment on his plans for AXPONA 2019, the USA’s largest regional audio show that runs this coming weekend (April 12th – 14th) in Chicago. “I don’t want to ship what I’m taking with me,” he continues.
A month later and the cat has now jumped from the bag to reveal Rossi’s latest product: a pair of loudspeakers. An unexpected move from someone hitherto known for his stellar-sounding electronics, first under the Red Wine Audio banner and now under his own name.
Stepping out at AXPONA this year will be Rossi’s Stiletto 15, a passive 3-way where a 15″ dipole Acoustic Elegance bass driver moves air from an open baffle – reportedly chosen for its more agreeable room integration – that sits beneath a sealed box that houses an 11cm Scanspeak Revelator midranger and Scanspeak ring radiator tweeter, each located in their own separate enclosures.
Rossi describes the cabinet as “3 x 2” thick layers of high-density composite material and 2 x 0.375” thick layers of solid surface material – all bolted and glued together.”
Full production is slated for June 2019 with an ‘early adopter’ price of US$20,000.
To move Stilleto 15 satisfaction from computerised renders to a real-life eyeful – to see if the shoe fits – you’ll need to visit Vinnie Rossi in room 488 at AXPONA 2019.
Srajan Ebaen has a full technical work-up on the Stiletto 15 over at 6moons.
