Look — we’re not usually ones for pointing out discounts. To promote a hi-fi store’s end of financial year clearance sale or a distributor’s seasonal pricing just isn’t a reviewer’s job. Product promotion is an unavoidable side-effect of Darko-Audio coverage, but it is absolutely not our raison d’être; that’s what banner ads are for.
But it’s Christmas and this, ladies and gentlemen, is a bargain that screams “Add to cart”: the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 are presently selling for half price over at Crutchfield. Half. Price. The loudspeaker world’s gateway drug can be yours for US$149.
This second generation entry-level ELAC standmount, designed by the omnipresent Andrew Jones, was already a compelling proposition at US$249. At US$149, it’s the best buy of 2018, bar none. In Germany, these same speakers sell for the equivalent of US$400. Sorry Europeans – international shipping costs on heavy loudspeakers mean this is an All-American retail opportunity.
Don’t sweat it that they won’t arrive until next week. Order them online today (and today only) and sleep well tonight knowing that Santa Claus will deliver eventually.
In the meantime, read my friend and colleague Michael Lavorgna’s review of the B5.2 over at Twittering Machines here.
I’ll take this opportunity to wish all Darko.Audio readers a happy holiday season and a sonically satisfying 2019.
