Two trips to Tokyo, one in October and one in December, have given rise to all manner of Japanese audio-related coverage on DAR throughout the past five months. I’ve written about Audio Union, the Disk Union network, the e-earphone stores, the Fujiya Avic store, Yodobashi Camera’s over-abundant hifi supply, accompanying AudioQuest representatives as they introduce products to the Japanese audiophile press and of course e-earphone’s Portable Audio Festival and Fujiya Avic’s headphone Festival.
In a very short space of time I’ve been exposed to a good deal of what Japan has to offer on the audio front. How it differs from the USA therefore became the pointy end of my first column for Stereophile magazine. Right in your face after turning the front cover of the February 2016 issue (out now) is this fella’s first As We See It editorial entitled “Letter from Japan”. It’s an honour to make the roll call of Stereophile contributors. Even more so that John Atkinson has invited me to write a second AWSI editorial for publication in the very near future.
