CEntrance launch HiFi-M8 portable DAC / headphone amplifier

  • I must admit it: I didn’t think they’d have this ready in time for RMAF, but it looks like Michael Goodman and his team pulled a few all-nighters to get the new CEntrance product suited and booted for its Denver launch this weekend.

The HiFi-M8 is pronounced “Hi-fi mate”; how Australian does that sound? What is it? Glad you asked, mate. The HiFi-M8 is a portable DAC and headphone amplifier.

It streams digital music from laptops, phones and tablet computers and is powered by internal Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery. This will hopefully bring some sonic benefits (blacker background) as well the obvious portable applications.

The HiFi-M8’s headphone amplifier supports in-ear and over-the-ear headphones, accommodating 1/4 inch unbalanced or balanced headphones.

“HiFi-M8 redefines the price/performance ratio in the portable audio category. We listened to our customers and created the ultimate portable playback system,” said Michael Goodman, Managing Director of CEntrance. “HiFi-M8 is a result of several years of research. We are confident that its unbeatable combination of features, sound quality, and convenience will win the hearts of many audio enthusiasts.”

CEntrance will begin shipping the HiFi-M8 from mid-October. RRP is US$700.
